The Year End Report

(One of the highlights of the year was a vertical tasting of the Mongeard-Mugneret wines at the Domaine.)
Firstly, WEA would like to take this opportunity to express a heart-felt thanks to all of you for your support over the past year. A “small” company like ours, can only take on the established “big boys” out there if we have clients who trust our recommendations and refer us to others. We need all the support from you to thrive and provide real competition to many of the incumbents in the local market. If you know anyone who appreciates a fine glass of Burgundy or Champagne, do send them our way.

2015 has been an important year for us. We curated an amazing portfolio of wineries, of which several has already become highly sought after. Many of you have given us feedback that the wines we bring in are truly interesting. That’s really one of our goals, to broaden the selection of Burgundy here in Singapore. The days of just chasing the usual “big names” in Burgundy is over.

WEA stood against all odds (and thinly veiled threats) to end the year on solid footing. We absolutely couldn’t have done it without you. WEA will continue to source great wines for you and finally we would also like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Cheers!

(2015 was our first time exploring Champagne and we were awed by the sprawling vineyards.)

What to expect in 2016?

More top wineries, larger allocations, more exciting events, the same great prices!

In January, we will finish up our 2013 Burgundy Campaign. A total of three more exciting Domaines to go. One from Vosne-Romanée and two from Chambolle-Musigny.

From February onwards, we will start afresh with the 2014 Burgundy Campaign. If you have been buying from the UK merchants, do enquire with us on whether we can offer you the same allocation (and match the price) for our agency wines. Aside from the ones we launched previously, we will have a couple of new names. Fans of Chassagnes will be very excited!

Our Burgundy trip in early November has been fruitful. The 2014 whites are shaping up to be one of the best white vintages in recent years. Great purity of fruit coupled with clean acidity for long aging. The reds should not be neglected as they are vibrant, fruity and very immediately seductive. Photos and captions of our visits can be found in our Facebook page.

On the Champagne side, we will replenish our stock of Nathalie Falmet and Suenen in February. We will also gradually launch our new Champagne agencies over the course of the year. Those who have attended our Q4 Champagne Tasting already had an exciting preview of what’s to come!
